Caboolture-based Sunland Caravans has always been innovative in its approach to caravan design ? adopting everything from a composite chassis design to sophisticated electrics.
Sunland’s layouts have generally been conventional, though, often using a front island bed/rear bathroom configuration, but the company's new Longreach Adventure reveals a step in a different direction.
The Longreach Adventure is manufactured very much in the Sunland style, but it’s the interior layout that gets my attention. Essential to this layout is the forward entry door. Stepping in leads straight into the kitchen area, with the fridge being to the left of the door and the kitchen bench opposite, although a subtle difference from other designs is that the bench is not against an external wall but almost in the middle of the van.
Up front, the traditional cafe style dinette has had a rework. Part of this area includes the fridge cabinet, which also has a two-tier slide-out pantry and a good sized floor locker.
In case you are wondering about the logistics of this slightly different kitchen setup, then wonder no more. Mostly the general layout is conventional – an L-shaped kitchen bench, with a round stainless steel sink, overhead lockers above with both rangehood and microwave fitted in that same area, and the fridge making up the third point of the kitchen work triangle.
