Dometic Follow the Sun ambassadors to hit the road

Caravan World — 29 July 2016

During their trip, the Follow the Sun winning families, who were drawn from thousands of entries, will raise funds and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), this year's competition partners.

While winners Grant Hanan and Linda Bloffwitch from South Australia, and Cameron and Julie McKay from Innisfail will travel in their own caravans, each kitted out with a $25,000 caravan makeover with new Dometic products, Kate Richards and her family from Cairns, Qld, will travel in a brand new pink Winnebago Minnie caravan to draw attention to the NBCF.

As part of their prize, all three families have been given $10,000 towards their travel expenses and they will kick off their separate road trips with a breakfast party at the Coconut Holiday Resort in Cairns, Qld, on Monday, August 1.

The event will include balloon artistry, face painting, prizes, giveaways and live entertainment from Cairns’ Tony George and radio personality Juanita Soper.

Dometic also extended the prize-giving to several 'runners-up' this year, who each won a month's travel in the Dometic Follow the Sun motorhome, joining the winners for parts of their trips.

Breast cancer survivor and Dometic Follow the Sun runner-up, Peta Newcombe, will be at the kick-off event in Cairns sharing her passion for breast cancer awareness.

“I was diagnosed in 2014 with breast cancer, and after going through chemo, radiation and a mastectomy last year I’m a proud breast cancer survivor,” Peta said.
“The experience gave my husband and I a new lease on life; we have sold our businesses and want to make every second count.”
