For those viewers who don’t buy Caravan World regularly, I also write a product review column each month called Tried and Tested in the magazine’s GETAWAY section. We test new products or those that I think are of interest to RVers. Products tested have ranged from gimmicky items that work, such as the Shoo Away fly windmill, to TV antennas, UHF radios, the latest 4WD tyre compressor, side mirrors and many others.
My problem here is that there is very little feedback from readers, so my question to you is to let me know if there is a product that you would like me to review. Keeping in mind that Denyse and I always field test any product we review (and our caravan is only 16ft inside), there is a limit to the size and number of items we can take with us.
Reviews done recently but not yet published include the Happy Hour Mate chair cup holder, an antenna for fringe reception for 3G mobile phone and broadband by Jaycar, the Camec tyre saver to stop flat spotting tyres, the new edition of Camps 7, Brunsgaard side mirrors, Voyager TV antenna, and the CGear matting.
We try to put the supplier’s claims to the test. For example, when the Uniden supplier claimed the new UHF radio is waterproof and shock resistant, I dropped it in a bucket of water, and washed the dirt off with copious amounts of water from a shoulder height drop on a dusty road to justify their claims.
