According to the old saying, you can’t judge a book by its cover. Sometimes that advice applies to caravans too.
This aluminium caravan is a good example. When Ron Van Halen of Perth bought it a few years back, he didn’t exactly know what it was. The aluminium sheeting was very 1970s, as was the orange and yellow interior decor. But the shape looked rather older.
When Ron renovated the caravan, he removed the aluminium cladding. Underneath he found that it was really a wooden 1950s Quest caravan built in SA. Apparently it had a serious makeover in the 1970s, giving it a deceptively modern appearance. - Susan and Keith Hall.
