New kid on the block AusRV Finke

Malcolm Street — 9 June 2017

AusRV is something of a new name in the Australian caravan manufacturing industry. However, its parent company the MDC group is not. AusRV has set up a full production line at their Coopers Plains, QLD factory, for their new range of caravans built as either all terrain or full off-road unit.

Starting with a few weights and measures, the Finke 19 has a tare weight of 2141kg and an ATM of 2900kg which does give a substantial payload of 759kg. It's a pity, but achieving a fully loaded weight of 2500kg, ie the Prado limit, would mean travelling very lightly. Still it is certainly well suited to a ute like the Isuzu D-Max that I was using.  The tow ball weight at 98kg is surprisingly light.

Being fully kitted out with LED lighting, 100AH house battery, 200W solar panel and a Redarc battery management system, the Finke does seem to be well set up for off the grid travel.

Stepping into the Finke reveals a layout that looks very familiar but at the same time refreshingly different because of the build style used for the cabinetry work and also the interior colours.
