Caravanners invited to help set Guinness World Record in Maryborough

Caravan World — 18 April 2017

Maryborough World’s Biggest Pub Crawl chairman Brendan Heit said the baby boomer sector was integral in setting the first world record in 2005 and would be needed to win it back on Sunday, April 30, 2017.

And you don’t have to drink alcohol to help set the record! You do, however, need to get a card, make your way to 10 pubs in Maryborough, buy any sort of drink, get the card stamped and put it in the collection box so it can be recognised by the Guinness Book of Records.

Caravanners are encouraged to dress in colourful costumes, with $2000 in cash prizes on offer, to help raise money to help struggling local farmers.

“Hundreds of people put an incredible effort into their costumes but some just choose to go with the colour theme,” Mr Heit said. “This year the theme is country and the colour green to tie in with our charity, Rural Aid.

“It’s a great fun day with bands playing at venues and a tremendous atmosphere.”

Maryborough needs about 5000 completed cards to reclaim the world pub crawl championship it first set in 2005 and held on and off for eight years, reclaiming it from London in 2007 and New York in 2009.

Kansas City recorded 4885 pub crawlers in 2013, beating Maryborough’s record by a mere 167 crawlers.
