The Murray Series 2 is, according to Elite, the first caravan in Australia to feature an in-built Cummins Onan 3600W generator. The generator, which weighs 83.4kg, has a micro-processor control to provide 240V power, allowing the van to travel for up to three weeks off the grid.
Elite Caravans’ managing director Adrian Coppola said he had noticed a spike in the number of family vanners wanting to free camp.
“We have seen a big shift in what our customers want in a van - now it’s all about getting off the grid and being able to travel for as long as you can autonomously,” he said.
“Free camping allows people to really immerse themselves in their holiday, without the constant need to check in at a caravan park.”
