PARKS VICTORIA SLASHES PEAK SEASON FEES

Caravan World — 5 February 2016

The move saw Parks Victoria cut its peak-season prices on all but eight of its ‘mid-level’ category campgrounds by at least $10 a night – or more than 25 per cent – from its former peak-season nightly tariffs of $38.90.

Parks Vic defines mid-level campgrounds as those that usually offer a booking service on undesignated campsites, with pit/composting toilets but no showers.

The new mid-level campground peak season fees are $28 per site per night (for up to six people), with boat-based campgrounds at Bunga Arm in Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park now at $21 per site.

The eight campgrounds that retain the peak season rate of $38.90 per site, per night fee, including the Banksia Bluff Campground in Cape Conran National Park, have now been reclassified as ‘special category’ campgrounds.

The refunds were automatically issued to bookings taken for dates on and after December 18, processed under the previous pricing structure.
