Santa may be very busy at Christmas but that didn’t stop us from running into him at a caravan park. He certainly wasn’t working hard. In fact, he was enjoying a family caravanning weekend south of Perth, Western Australia.
The occasion was a Christmas camping weekend with a bunch of caravanners from the Family Wanderers Caravan Club. This friendly West Australian club holds about 10 rallies a year. The members enjoy all their outings, but there’s always something special about their December get-together. As well as having games for the kids and a festive barbecue dinner, they hold a Christmas Lights competition.
The competition is a hotly contested event where everyone decorates their caravan with inflatable Santa figures, reindeer, Christmas trees, tinsel and lights. Last year’s winners were Mark and Sandy Carey, who were holding the star-shaped trophy for the last time. They said van park staff would pick this year’s winners in the evening.

It was obvious that choosing the winner was going to be a tough decision, since all the vans were looking great with their seasonal decorations. And of course Mark and Sandy were hoping that they might be winners for two years in a row.
